Went to Carlisle Friday

Well went to Carlisle Friday - looks like I picked the right day. Might be rain rest of week end. Wanna see a '06 Z06 naked? They have one.. plus 3 others with clothes!
Did note that there were at least 4 clubs there with booths... something we might consider as I spoke to a number of people with Virginia plates but they did not know NVCC. CVCC was in force as they are hosting Sunday's Ax.
All the usual suspects in vendor displays and the usual Thousands of great cars.

Great idea. This is why we need a publicity chair...this would be his or her 'department', so to speak.

Since I organize and lead the yearly caravan up to this event, I cannot be in two places at once. I'd be happy to assist once I arrived, but we really need a publicity chair and the help of the club to pull this off.

Don't get excited. I didn't find a track car. Everything was automatic or convertible or overpriced. [:(] Was looking for a few parts for LilRed but what I found was in worse shape than what I already had. I have determined that the swap meet/parts portion of Carlisle is not worth my time; I'd rather sit at the computer and compare prices rather than waste my time going vendor to vendor.

I was still able to get some of the things off my list that I needed (some car care/cleaning stuff that is hard to find) as well as some Corvette apparel that I had wanted. I'm not big on Corvettewear so when I see something that isn't too flashy or gross looking, I go for it. Maybe next year I'll have better luck finding deals, especially if LilRed gets a sister. [:)]

Sorry, no pics, kinda 'been there, done that' before at Carlisle so I didn't bother taking a camera. I did enjoy looking at all the race prepared vettes and the new C6 Z06 [B-)] Then there's always the amusement of seeing some mods people do to their vettes that leave you wondering....why? [:))] As much as their was some really cool stuff there, there was fugly sh!te, too.

A lot of fun...looking forward to next year!

The price is right but I think this is one I would probably "run don't walk" away from. Sounds to me like it would take a good chunk of time and resources to make safe for a track car. Especially if you have to pay someone else to do all the work.

I suspect that too, but it depends on what is wrong with it. I have some spare parts, wheels, and other stuff here that can easily go into the car right away. All depends on what the car has on it, what needs work and if the planets are all in alignment...

The price is right for a track car that is just going to get modded anyway. I expect it (and kind of want) it to be somewhat of a project car as I have some very specific ideas as to what mods I would like, rather than live with someone elses' choices. Plus I can sneak that stuff in under the radar over time..... *leaving*

We shall see. Have some other possibilities as well. Advertisers need to post pics, list RPO codes, mods, repairs/replacements and an honest list of what's wrong otherwise I'm out of there like a fat girl in dodgeball.

Well, I did take pics mostly of cars that were as far from stock as possible. I am actually considering a wing for the back as I move toward HPDE events. There's a reason the C5R uses one. Unfortunately, you either get one that looks like a reject from a Robocop movie (the one on the blue car) to one that looks decent but doesn't do anything (the one on the black car). I want something functional, but I don't want my daily driver to scream "race car" either.


Edit Reason: HPDE is four little letters. You would think I could get them in the right order the first time around.
