Corvette Forum's Jim Strathearn is again sponsoring this year's Fall Skyline Drive Cruise on Saturday, October 29th, 2005.
For those that remember past Skyline Cruises, we always have a blast! Fall Skyline attendance was 150 'vettes!!! This is also a charity cruise. Here's Jim's website for more info on both the charity and the cruise:
http://home.att.net/~jstrathearn/skyline_cruise/skyline_main.htm
Registration fee: $10.00 per car or a new, unwrapped toy. All registration proceeds to benefit Toys for Tots. Additionally, the entry fee to get into the park (good for 7 consecutive days) is $10.00 or you may purchase an annual pass, which is now $30.00.
We will meet at the Newgate Shopping Center parking lot (corner of Routes 28 and 29 in Centreville) at 7:30 AM, drivers' meeting at 7:45 AM, leaving at 8 AM SHARP! We should arrive at the Front Royal Chevy dealership at around 9:00 AM, where those organizing the cruise will begin distributing goodie bags and door prizes. Representatives from the local Toys for Tots group will be there collecting new, unwrapped toys and donations. (No stuffed animals please.) They will also have coffee and donuts for us. The local Boy Scout Troop will also be there to assist with parking, etc.
At 10:30 AM we will caravan to the Shenandoah National Park with a police escort so that we can enter the Skyline Drive as a group.
Cruise to a scenic overlook and socialize, take pictures, etc.
After leaving the overlook, we will caravan down to Brookside Restaurant for lunch.
After lunch, we will re-enter the park and reassemble at the Stony Man overlook. From there, we will caravan to the Big Meadows visitor center where we will attempt to take a group picture. The cruise ends at Big Meadows.
Please register here, on the events tab or e-mail me at lilredcorvette94@yahoo.com if you wish to join the Centreville caravan to the cruise starting location.
Directions to caravan start point: Newgate Shopping Center is conveniently located at the intersection of Routes 28 and 29 in Centreville. It is also accessible via Route 66 exit number 53. We will meet in the parking lot that faces Route 28.

Judy, Don would have to have an account/login to the system to post his name.
That being said, you are on the RSVP list.

Laurie,
Don does have his own account but just recently I saw a sign-up like John & Jane Doe and that's what I can't figure out.

Probably because they had a combined name account, whereas yours and Don's are separate accounts/profiles.
It doesn't matter because I have your RSVP anyway.

Laurie, I'll be there but I don't think (my) Laurie can make it. Her schedule shows a business meeting in Crofton, MD on that date.
EDIT: 12 Oct 05: Laurie can make it! She changed the business meeting so add her to the list. [B-)] [:D]

And don't forget your Family radios!
For those that don't know, these are the handheld portable CBs that have about 14 channels or so. They are great for chatting and keeping the group together.

I'd like to thank everyone who came out for a long day of cruising through the mountains. Despite the chilly early morning and higher elevation temps, the sun was shining and it was a beautiful autumn day in Virginia. I am so happy to have shared the day with all of you.
Our group ended up being 30 or so cars....the total Skyline attendance was 150 vettes. THE NVCC COMPRISED ONE FIFTH OF THIS CRUISE!!! That is way cool, everyone.
I am totally exhausted but will go to sleep with a wonderful Corvette day behind me. My only hope is that all of you had as good of a time as I did. [:)]
Thanks again, all. [:x]

I went around before we left Front Royal, VA and tried to find as many personalized license plates as I could. Go to http://www.kodakgallery.com/Slideshow.jsp?mode=fromshare&Uc=up2de0o.y81ab40&Uy =4ba9ov&Ux=0 and see the photos I shot of the plates as well as the others I shot.
My apologies if I didn't get your car. Shoot a pic of your plate and send it to me via e-mail and I'll add it to the album.
Enjoy! [B-)]

Everyone -
Skyline Drive was absolutely GREAT! Best of all was being able to enjoy it with many friends and beautiful Vettes. [:)]
Chris - That was a really good idea taking pictures of all the personalized plates - thanks for sharing! I don't know how you missed the only Iowa plate on the cruise though. [:-/]
I'll have my pictures developed next weekend and will be posting them to share at that time. I really look forward to seeing how our chronological photo shoot at Crescent Rock turned out. Thanks to Laurie, Bob, Chris and Mike for your patience in making it happen!
Now to clean "Leezl" for a long winter's rest.

We had a great time. Beside the fact we froze our azz off at the overlooks, it was great to see such a good turnout and see so many old friends.
We decided to eat lunch with some friends at Skyland and missed the Brookside fun but we'll do that in the spring!
BTW, did anyone else notice Virginia's finest in this pic? [:))] [:))] [:))]

Hey all,
Beth and I had a great time on the cruse with y'all. What a great day and a great way to enjoy our Vette. Plus, it was excellent to see so many C3s. [:D]
Congratulations to Tony and Leslie; "Roxy" (Stung) is apparently going to be featured in Corvette Enthusiast in the not too distant future. [=D>]

The coolest part of the caravan down to the event was that, through family radio, we checked the front and back mile markers and discovered our NVCC caravan was 1 mile long!
Roxy isn't the only one headed into Corvette Enthusiast magazine. Was gonna wait until the mag actually came out on the stands to announce it but LilRed has had her photoshoot and article written already. Might be in the March issue. Will keep you all posted [:)]

Most likely not, he's on CorvetteForum.com Northeast Region (he is in PA, not VA) and probably won't get around to posting at the individual forums.
If anyone is over there and sees it, and wants to right click/save as and host it on their own photohosting site and post the image tag here, then that would be great.
