View Full Version : All Vette Day at Capital Raceway - Sept 11 - Anybody Going ??
Saw a recent thread in the Corvette forum about an all Corvette day at Capital raceway near DC. The event is sponsored by Tony's Corvettes in Gaithersburg. I went three years ago and had a blast - made 12 runs and saw some VERY fast Vettes. Several blown street cars were in the low 10's at over 130 MPH. It is on Sept 11th. Is any body else thinking of going?

I have a flyer here for the event and was thinking about it. LilRed isn't competitive enough with those very drag-modded vettes out there, I don't want to get laughed off the strip [:))] [:(]
LilRed - It's not about winning the eliminations. It's about going out and having a good time, making 10-12 time runs and bettering your personal times. Last ime I was there, a large variety of cars were present. Everything from 14 second C-3 stockers, stock C4s, blown C-4s running in the 10s, heavily modded C5s and a couple of Lingenfelter C-5 twin turbo cars. A great chance to see a wonderful cross section of the hobby. No one will laugh for sure. [:)] I'm pretty sure that I am going. Hope to see you there.

Yes, I agree that it's not about winning and more about fun/personal bests, but it's nice to (and even more fun when you do). [;)] Best I can do is in the 13s, no winning there...

If's its bracket racing, its all about dialing in your ET. A 14 sec car can whip up on a 10 sec car if it is consistent and the driver is good on the tree.

Apparently not very fast. [:))]
They never wanted to come out and play with us when we had an autocross course set up on the dragstrip at Old Dominion. (We found out just how fast you can take the turn around. [:D]

Well I don't know if I am going to make ot or not. Corded one of the front tires on the Z06 at a HPDE event this veekend at summit on the Shenandoah circuit. Naturally none in stock in the entire area. Hello Tire Rack. [:((] I hope that I can get it here and mounted in time to go. I'll be there if I can get it done.

Corded one of the front tires on the Z06 at a HPDE event this veekend at summit on the Shenandoah circuit... Hello Tire Rack.
I'm sure tire rack is a sponsor or something, but I bought two front tires from them 8 months ago. 2 months later my left front was damaged. Called tire rack and they said and I quote "buy a new one". They won't warranty the tires unless you buy all 4. I get my tires at Just Tires in Fairfax and they'll warranty 1 tire if you want. Sure it's a little more expensive, but technically you could be paying $135/mo for tires otherwise.

If we were going to caravan up there, I'd go. Hate trying to find my way around MD by myself.
Tires did not get here today. It's not looking good folks. If they do not get here early tomorrow, the possibility of getting them mounted and an alignment is non existant. [:((] Contact the other folks via IM and talk with them about getting a caravan together. The track is really easy to get to.

This was an outstanding day.....a well prepped track, sunny skies, and great people to boot. Had one NVCC member out there, John Folkerts, running his Admiral Blue '94 (formerly Chuck Wasserott's monster car!) in the 12s. Saw a lot of CorvetteForum people out there running as well.
Today I earned some 'personal bests':
Best 1/4 ET: 13.624
Best 60': 1.975
Best MPH: 101.71
Not bad for a mostly stock '94 LT1. [:D] Didn't win anything, didn't expect to, just went out and worked on some things and learned some good stuff for the next time around. [:)]
Nice runs LRC94 - a fun day for everyone there I think - did not see anyone who wasn't having a blast!
