Ok folks,
The time is getting near, and the final pieces are being put into place for NVCC's charity run that I will be running at the Worldgate Sport & Health Club on October 27th! I am going out of town tell Sunday, but I wanted everyone to know that The flyer is being mabe up as we speak, deals are being made with potential sponsors, and the pledge collection sheets are being designed.
I really would like to see as many people as possible participate in this event. I will be the one doing the hard part by running 50+ miles in an 8 hour period on a treadmill. I need the membership to go out and collect pledges for this event. We have some really great sponsors so far for this event, and are looking for more all the time.
The charities that we are working with are the Joe Gibbs Youth for Tomorrow Foundation, and Project Fit America. These are two really great organizations we are working with, and I will be listing what it is they do for the people that don't know when I get back into town.

OK ladies & gents! I'm going to keep bumping this one! I really want to start getting some response to this, and get as many people as possible involved in this! If things go good with this, this will be the largest fund raiser that the club has ever seen in it's history! At the next GBM I will be asking for volunteers to help out with this event. There are still some logistical needs that have to be addressed. So please guys, let's all get involved in this one to show other clubs around the country what NVCC is made of! There will be an artical going into Blue Bars on this event also so that all the Corvette Clubs around the country sees what we are!

How about this?
Everyone in the club personally donates $100 towards this run. The club puts up $1000 for a total donation of approximately $11k from the club.
Who do we make the checks out to? That on the flyer?
Then we have to figure out a method for bringing in friends, neighbors and co-workers. Say a pledge sheet with an amount per mile? How about getting donations from local businesses?
What are the logistics that need getting done?

Sorry about that Andrej. I came back from my weekly long run (30 miles) and fell asleep for an hour or two.
So far here is what is in place. The run is going to happen on Thursday October 27th at the Worldgate Sport & Health from 10 AM until 6 PM. The companies that are on board so far are:
NVCC
Sport & Health clubs
Metro Run & Walk
Tri-nergy
Any company that wants to get in this we I am asking that they make a $500 donation plus let us post the flyer within their company to bring pledges. We will in turn publisize their names as much as possible. Metro Run & Walk, and Tri-nergy are letting us hang flyers in their stores with collection jars as well.
As far as the membership donating money that is going to be up to them, but I would like to see everyone try to collect pledges for this in either lump sum donations, or per mile. I don't think we should be picky on this. Any checks that get made out need to be made out to the "Youth for Tomorrow". Any businesses that want to join in we need to get their addresses so that they can recieve their tax number so that they can get their deduction. I am looking into doing something nice for the member that brings in the most pledges (Money)
I need to get in touch with Brad this week so that he can post the flyer, and pledge sheets on the web site so that everyone has access to them. I will also be bringing the flyers, and sheets to the next several meetings for everyone.
So far I have the USA Today live (Ginger Gadson) wanting to do a story so that they can get it to channel 9 News also. The Potomac News has also been notified and is going to put a space in their paper a couple of weeks out for us. Also I have not heard anything as of yet, but the information on the run has also been handed off to the CFO of the Redskins also so I'm waiting to hear from them.
As far as help needed here is what I need. I need 3-4 people to help out the day of the event. I have 2 known volunteers so far. Jeff has also offered to help out in any way that he can. I would like to have someone in charge of making sure that all pledges come in from other members and get to Paul. Jim B. (AKA Scoop) has offered to write the artical to Blue Bars magazine. My camerea equipment will be there so if anyone wants to handle all the publicity photos it would be greatly appreciated.
All the information is on the flyer with me as the point of contact. I am also working on having t-shirts made up for all those that will be helping out, and for the sponsors for publicity. I know that I'm probably forgetting something so when it comes to me I'll post it.

BUMP!
Ok boys & girls. The flyer, and pledge sheet is posted on the events page. I will also be bringing the sheets to the next GBM, and will also be sending out an global e-mail on this. This is an event that is going to make the club shine like no other!
At the next GBM I will be asking for a couple of volunteers to help out, and will be going over the final details for the event. I encourage all to attend the next meeting and get involved with this event because it is for a great cause! Besides, I'll be the one doing most of the work :-) and you get to watch me torture myself for 8 hours. [:D]

I'll watch for you on the news.
Anyway, I'm in for $100.

Dave,
Thanks buddy! I hope that you can make it out there maybe in the morning though?
I'm going to start a buz within the club! There is a member that will remain anonomous unless he or she comes forward that has donated $1,000.00 of their own money towards this run! So within a week and a half we are already over $6,000.00 on this end! If everyone pulls together and will collect pledges towards this we can make the goal easily! So come on guys, let's get out there! These are two great causes! Who knows? One of these kids may be a future President or a doctor that you may need help from in the future. [:)]

[B-)] I know what you mean!
Send out a couple of emails... you'll hit more of the members of the club that way. Based on the forum logs, I would say that less than 15% of the club hit the forum on a regular (weekly) basis.

OK Boys and Girls! I just finished my last long training run for this event before I start tapering. I just finished 42 miles in 6 hours and 5 minutes! All is good on this end so we need to start getting the pledges/donations in for the event. I hope everyone remembers to bring their pledge sheets in the night of the Otober GBM.
Time for the Hot tub and a Corona! [:D]

Ok folks! the time is getting close! All the preperations have been made, and training is complete! I've started to taper for the event. I need everyone to bring their pledge sheets/pledges/and donations to the GBM on October 25th so that we can have some sort of tally for a presentation check after the run. [;)]
This is a huge opportunity for the club AS A WHOLE to make a great impact with the community! We really do need everyone to get involved with this so come on guys! [;)]

OK people! everything is set! Thursday is the day! I'd like to see as many people out there as possible that evening so that we can get as much exposure as possible for the club! If you have club shirts or Corvette shirts please wear them to let people know! Channel 9 is suppoesd to cover the last couple of hours of the event along with several other media outlets! So lets all get out there to show everyone who NVCC is!
Also, I need everyone to bring their pledge sheets in to the meeting on Tuesday so we can see somewhat of a tally so we can make a presentation afterwards! Hopefully on LIVE TV!!! [;)]
I've done everything I can to this point to get the club involved with this event! It's now up to you all to spread the word! I've been tapering for the last couple of weeks so my legs are fresh and I'm getting just a little itchy to run (actually I'm getting edgy! [:D] ). I will be going to Worldgate on Monday for a short run then on Wed. afternoon to check all the setup/equipment!
Also I just got word that the CEO of the YFT will be there for the presentation at the end of the event. They are also trying to bring along several of the kids from the YFT to see and possibly run also! This would be a GREAT chance for everyone to meet these young people that we are helping out! Let them know that we do care! [:)] [;)] [B-)]

George, I saw you on Channel 9 news. They ran a few minutes of footage. They mentioned the Joe Gibbs Foundation, but I don't think I heard anything about the Corvettes.
I hope you're still in one piece. Thanks for helping the kids.

Thank you to everyone that came out! I think the event was a great success for the club! The charities were very apreciative for what we have done for them. I had a lot of people talking to me on the treadmill asking about the Corvette club and what we did. I didn't even think about it until this morning about setting some lititure out on the club. Oops! I was glad to see a lot of faces from the club out there yesterday. It made for a really good showing for the club.
I was pretty sore last night, but I ate a couple of alieve last night then a couple of Tylonol PM's before I went to bed and slept like a bay! [:D] The legs feel pretty good this morning so I think I'll go for a little run this morning! [:D] NOT!!!
Once again, thanks everyone!
