Love to but I have this on that weekend:
http://www.nvcorvetteclub.com/nvcc/events/eventView.do?mode=view&id=133
Whilst I am up in NY might try to catch the Watkins Glen D.E. on August 3rd at http://www.apexperformancedriving.com/
Dunno though, no way to get my Victoracers up there unless I drive 400 miles on them...and 400 miles back...[[-(]
If I do an event at VIR I would want to do the full course (like the one I missed in February due to foot surgery!)

I think most of them went to the spring event down there. Awsome facility! You will love it! I think I'm going to wait until they come back to Summit in the Fall. [:)]

Yep, I'll be down there. Never miss an outing at VIR. Too much fun. It's the only place the old '84 can keep up with the competition.
By the way, for those going to the Hyper Fest weekend at SP in July, anybody have an idea where they are parking in the paddock. I'm planning on getting into SP about 4PM that Friday and wanted to make sure I park in a good "party" spot. Let me know. - Jack -

Hey Jack,
We were talking at Jefferson on Monday. I was thinking about trying to get under the trees in the back this year. I know a lot of people will be there and it might be hard to get a spot unless we get there early.

I just signed up to instruct at the VIR event 30-31 July.
I was hoping that they were going to hold an Instructor 2 clinic but they are only doing a level 1 and level 3 clinic.

I signed up to instruct at VIR.
I'll be running Group 3 at Hyperfest. I plan to drive down to Summit for Hyperfest on Friday late afternoon getting there around 7:30- 8:00 pm. I agree with Mike, we ought to try to park in the back in the trees. It'll be a great weekend! [:D] [:D]

Mike & Ralph,
I'll try and get to SP around 3PM on Friday and park my truck and trailer around the area you're talking about and save a few spots for everyone.
I'm planning on taking the Instructor 1 clinic at VIR the end of the month. Might as well start instructing and spend my money on the car instead of the track.
See you at SP in July. - Jack -

OK, the new steering rack is in (with one day to spare on the warranty!) and now it's time to change oil/filter, rotors and pads, and then I'll be ready for the weekend.
Mike S, when do you want to leave on Friday? Who all is going down with us? I'm instructing this time so I guess I'll be running in Group 4. Are you?

It looks like Michael Higgins (AlohaC5)is HPDE1 and Rick Poage is Instructing. I'm not sure what Jack is running on Saturday and Sunday. I'm instructing... I haven't heard if anyone else is going from here.
I was thinking 11:00 or so. What time is good for you?

When you guys get down on Friday, just look for my trailer and truck. I'll use some construction caution tape and tape off an area large enough for at least two more trucks and trailers. More if necessary. I'll try and get a spot along pit road and the track, for good viewing during our off hours. - Jack -

Mike,
Ralph and I are meeting up with Rick Poage at the McDonalds on Backlick Rd just off I-95 by Pallone Chevy. Are you familar with the Springfield / Newington area?
We should be there around 11:15.

Mike,
No, I didn't get the 13" rotors and J-55 calipers installed yet. Ordered the J-55 calipers, but they didn't arrive. The stock twin piston GM calipes do not fit the 13" rotors. Too narrow. So, I bought two new 12" rotors for this weekend. Believe me, they stop so much better than the old single piston 11.5 inch stock brakes that were on this thing, that it's still good for now!
By the way, anyone know where I can pick up oil cooler hoses/lines that will fit a Z-51 optioned '84? My feed line to the cooler is seeping oil. I spent half the afternoon today running to all the hydraulic shops trying to get someone to make me up a pair. But, very few places have the high temp hoses and nobody has the correct fittings. Nothing doing at the auto parts stores or Corvette supply houses either. Anyway, let me know if you know of a supply house that handles this type stuff quick like.

Jack,
I had the same problem when I tried to replace my power steering cooler lines. I sure would like to know where GM gets it's fittings, because no one in the Washington metropolitan area had anything that worked. I ended up buying a whole new rad for the power steering system to get the just the fitting.
Any GM suppliers out there that can tell us where to get these fittings?

Just a reminder, if you have a family radio, bring it. It makes it easier to communicate on the road.

What a great weekend! Jack, thanks for the Brazilian Grill...absolutely delicious (and zero carbs )[:p]. Rick thanks for leading us there and teaching us that sophisticated card game [:))] and Mike thanks for sacrificing your canopy and for the quote of the week... "Put..." we won't go there! [;)] . Janet, you're super... photographer, pit crew member, Jill of all trades, and to Aloha Mike, congratulations on soloing in your group and officially becoming a track junkie [B-)].
By the way, don't forget to contact Chris about the Instructor 2 Clinic at Summit.

Another great track weekend despite the weather on Sunday morning.
It's been over three years since I had run the Norther course and I had forgotten how much fun it was. You can pack a lot of smiles into 2.25 miles.
Janet, thanks for putting up with all the testosterone that was floating around over the weekend.
...and a big welcome to the newest member of the NVCC track rats, Mike H. [=D>] You are going to fit right in.

Mike, running the North Course at VIR this weekend in HPDE 1 was an awesome experience! My first NASA event - many more to come. I appreciate the outstanding instruction you provided me during the two-day event and riding with you during the instructor time on the track!
Janet and I had a great time hanging out with you, Ralph, Rick and Jack. Janet looks forward to a "ride along" the next time she comes out. She's getting a helmet next week.
I'm already studying the HDPE 2 requirements, downloaded the CCR and just registered for a FATT event on 23 September and the 24-25 September NASA HPDE1 session at Summit Point. We're looking forward to Spooktacular in October.
Running the track SOLO during the 5th session was incredible, especially as I was reeling in the other cars [:D] . I look forward to becoming a "Track Rat" with the rest of the gang and going to even more track events next year.

Yeah guys, it was a great time this past weekend at VIR. The old car was running hot, but it was still fun. I'm already planning the menu for the Labor Day fest at Beaverun. I'll see what I can come up with. I think for the next Summit Point run, I'm going to try and get my son-in-law to come up and then we can have a REAL Brazilian cook for us. It'll taste a lot better, I can assure you.
The card game was a hoot. I was telling my wife about the game and about a quarter of the way into my story she stops me and says, "Oh yeah, that's 'Screw Your Neighbor'." Apparently, she's been playing a lot of cards with Rick that I didn't know about!!!!! And remember Rick, there are a limited amount of times you can go to the well!!!!!
Aloha Mike, nice job on the track this weekend. You looked great. And Janet, thanks for keeping him in line!! Just kidding, nice to have met you two and looking forward to seeing you guys at some more events in the future.
Mike & Ralph, thanks for the rides this weekend. It's always a blast to ride along, when your not driving. I know Zach and his buddy BJ enjoyed it as well. I think they enjoyed their rides with Ralph & Rick better, because when they both got out of my car they told me I was nuts and walked off! I don't get it? I also think this will get them moving a little faster to get their RX7 track cars finished up and out there.
Well, time to start disassembling the old '84 and get it ready for next month. When you've got something this old, all the parts have to be taken off, massaged, cleaned and given some loving care so they'll work again the next time. Of course, the way this things been treating me lately, I ought to just kick it in the rear end and drive it harder!!
It was a great time guys, looking forward to the next one. - Jack-
