Sounds like a good way to break up the winter.
I will check my schedule, but I'm pretty sure those dates will work.
I'm assuming there is a raincheck or snow date policy?

Thanks for your links to the schedules. It looks like VIR's HPDE is full. [:(] That is probably the session(s) I would be enrolled in. If you know any differently (if the classes aren't full) let me know.

It looks like you are on top of this info. Eager to fire that 396, I'm sure.

I can contact NASA thru their home page if you don't already know about openings for the Feb dates.

What's VIR? [:-/] [:-/]

VIR is the Virginia International Raceway http://www.virclub.com/

VIR is one of the oldest and most historic road courses in the area. It is located in southern Virginia near the North Carolina border. The full course is 3.27 miles long but can be divided into a north course and a south course.

It is challenging with a number of elevation changes and a long straight on the back side.

Check out their web site. It is full of information and has some videos. I have a couple also when Don Kerndt and I were down there for the Justin Bell drivers course.

Dave, what makes you think its full already? I've called and left a voice mail about the registrations. As soon as I get an answer I'll let everyone know.

Absolutely [:D] Besides that, I really enjoy VIR. I like Summit and BeaveRun, but VIR is the best I've driven on. I did it in a Z28 Camaro and a Z06 but I really want to do it in my car.

The "Full" in the schedule refers to the FULL course (instead of the North or South course) being used for the event, not that the signup for the event is full.

I'll sign up for this.

Thank you for your wisdom, as always.
I'm there!

FYI

I registered for this event on the NASA site without any problem.

Now let's hope for some dry and sunny days in February.

I'm planning on leaving here Friday, the 20th. Catch some of the action since they are doing Super Comp School, Instructor Clinic, Instructor Lap Day and Racer Open Practice.

I'll probably call about a hotel Monday or Tuesday. The last time I was down there I stayed in Roxboro, NC. It was about a 20 minute drive in the morning.

Needless to say there wasn't a lot of choices for dinner. We had dinner at the VIR clubhouse one evening.

It looks like Danville is closer and may have a larger selection of hotels. Anyone that has been there recently have any feedback?

I'm probably going down early on Friday, to get into the practice sessions. I've stayed at the Holiday Inn at Danville and I've camped out at VIR. I don't think I'll be camping in Feb though... The drive from Danville is about 20 minutes and there are a bunch of restaurants in town.

Looks like the Holiday Inn in Danville is pretty good. $55 a night for government rate.

I'm calling this evening to reserve a room.

I found a room at the Stratford Inn in Danville. The price was a little lower than advertised on VIR's website: $67/night gets the room plus a cooked breakfast and dinner. It is on the west side of Danville, so it may be a little further drive to the track.

You don't think they'll mind if I dine with "helmet hair?"[:O]
