I got tired of how the old gal's rear sagged when towing the trailer, so...
I put new shocks on it on Saturday. Not a new vehicle, but a new and better ride for sure.
It is easy to get used to the decline in performance when it is gradual, like shock wear. Mine had 128,000+ miles on them. The stock shocks were pretty skinny compared to the new ones, and just about all of the compression and rebound qualities were gone.
The new ride is so much better. I expected an improvement over bumps and rough roads, but the cornering and overall stability has impressed me.
For anyone on the fence, this is an easy and inexpensive job. It isn't mechanically challenging, but it can be a bit dirty. Fortunately, the humidity was bad enough that the dirt really didn't get to sink in.
