I just got an email that registration for the NASA event on the main track at Summit 16-17 July is open.

I registered for HPDE 3. Anyone else planning on attending?

[B-)] WAY KOOL! [B-)]

So far we have

Brian Gallagher
Dave Rankin
Jack McAfee
Ralph Watts
John Tribble
Tom (911 P car)
Mike Woods
Mike Higgins
and
me

Who else?

Looks like

Andrej is racing in Spec Miata Regional
and
Rich Roemer is racing in PS0

It doesn't look like Mike Higgins made it off the stand-by list yet.

I just got that same email. Wish I had my track-only vette squared away, but rather take my time on that.

I may or may not run LilRed...not sure yet.

Dear Members of NASA Mid-Atlantic:

We look forward to seeing you at any (and all!) of our upcoming events!
You may now register for the events listed below by going to our home
webpage and clicking on Schedule and Event Registration on the left
side menu. http://www.nasaracing.net/

Also, this is a reminder for NASA Mid-Atl Racers that the number
reservation program will begin at 8PM on Tuesday, May 17. Number
reservation is available for race groups only (not HPDE). No one
within the same race group may have the same number. Once you reserve
a number, this will be your number for the 2005 Race Season as long as
you preregister online. We typically shut down online preregistration
by Tuesday 10AM four days prior to the event. You must preregister
online prior to that time, or you lose the right to your number for
that event only. If you show up to register at the track, you are not
guaranteed your car number for that particular event.
Information is posted on http://www.nasaracing.net/ and the direct link
to the registration is here:

http://drivenasa.com/r/num-ma

June 11, 12: HPDE and Sprint Races will be on the newly improved
Shenandoah Circuit at Summit Point Raceway We are excited about
running on this new track which has recently received lots of praise
from those racers and instructors who have attended our test dates and
other events held there. We hope to see you there! Racers are
encouraged to wait until after you have registered your car number to
register for this event.

July 16, 17: HYPERFEST RETURNS TO SUMMIT POINT RACEWAY!!! This is one
of our most popular events due to all the on-track and off-track
activities associated with this large spectator event. Fireworks, a
live band, fun contests, car show, rollover contest, drifting
competition, vendors, and much more are included. Since this is a
spectator event, there will be different admission procedures, and
these will be posted in the event instructions on the website as soon
as possible.

July 29, 30, 31: North Course at VIR: Fridays activities will
include Test and Tune for racers, Instructor Clinic, Competition
School, and Open Practice for advanced students. Sat/Sun activities
will include all levels of HPDE and sprint races for all NASA classes.

AS ALWAYS, HPDE ENTRANTS SHOULD REGISTER AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE TO AVOID
BEING ON THE WAIT LIST.

If you have any registration questions, please contact Sean Thompson at
registration@nasaracing.net. If you have any general NASA questions,
please contact Laura Cobetto at laura@nasaracing.net.

See you at the track!

Brian, Laurie posted the email so all the info is there.

It should be a pretty good event. There are normally between 4 and 8 of us from NVCC that make the NASA events at Summit. Andrej normally instructs, the other "regulars" are Ralph Watts, Dave Rankin and myself. Mike Woods and some of the other guys have been attending lately.

Normally get three twenty or twenty-five minute sessions each day. Novice and Intermediate students are teamed with instructors in the students' cars (in case anyone else from up your way is interested).

This move is kicking my butt, I had really hoped to
push it out till August but the wife wanted to move
ASAP to get the kids ready for school. So Its put
a kink in the finances that I hope to have sorted
out in time for BeaveRun.

Im going to try and Come out to Jefferson and Summit

uuuummmmmm, I have been thinking a LOT about retiring lately... that sounds like a good way to stay busy. (going to have to think about that) [B-)]

You might give Chris May (Superior Chevrolet) a call @ 800-728-8267 or 800-222-1020. Tell him you are from the CorvetteForum and they give almost wholesale on Genuine GM Parts.

Even with shipping Chris' prices have been lower on almost everything than I could find it anywhere else. Can't hurt to give him a call.

Hey Mike, Ralph & Mike,

Looking forward to seeing you guys in July at Summit Point. I'll be dragging my trailer & Vette up that Friday, early, to get a decent parking place so I can enjoy the fun and sun. Any idea what area you guys are parking and/or what time you're planning on getting in? Let me know.

Different subject, same place: Made it up to SP this past weekend to the new Shann... circuit. It was a blast. Really enjoyed it. The place is great. All the hooplah about no run off room, too short, etc. was BS. The place is fun and challenging. Nothing but great corners hooked one after the next. With a great 110mph jump at the top of a hill followed by the Nurburgring banked corner. You've got to run it. Talk to Andrej and Rick - think they liked it too!!

See you guys in July..................-Jack-

Yeah, I like Shenandoah even more after putting 200 miles on it!However, I will take back my previous assumption that a Miata could keep up with higher horsepower cars. It cannot! SC is still a horsepower track, the more you got the faster you'll get around. (Now I have to get the Vette street and track ready!)

I have great video of Poage getting past me just about anywhere on the course!

Yeah, they are saying that they won't let us in until after 6:00pm due to the FATT that Friday but I'm planning on leaving straight from work (about 2:00). Beat the traffice out maybe and grab a bite in town before heading to the gate. If I'm in line by 5:00 or so should be good.

I'm hoping we can get all the way over to the west end by turn 3 just off the blacktop area. That way we should max out on the shade in the afternoon.

I was thinking about getting one of the small generators but was worried about how loud they might be. I have never heard one of the small ones, but the one the club has is crazy loud.

I hadn't thought about cooking. That would require pots / pans and I threw my leather ones out when metal was invented. <grin>

Come to think of it, there are electrical outlets on the right side of the paddock. It is as close to shade as we'll get. Usually the Porsches or Cobras park there, but if we move in early we may be able to stake claim to an area.
I have a generator similar to the club's, but it is very loud. I'll bring it if needed.
I'll try to get there Friday PM as well, but 7:30 is more likely.

Do you mean along the fence across from the tech shed or down the pavement next to the trees? I've got 150' of extention cord so if we can get remotely close to an open outlet we should be good. I think it was about $20.00 a day last year. I piggy-backed on someone else and gave them $20.00 on Sunday for the weekend.

[:((] WELL, got a call from my trailer repair shop today and the axle needs to be replaced AGAIN.... Just put that in right before our

Problem he thinks is we used the old bearing, hub assembly which was in the accident... and even tho it LOOKED ok, it
took the 250 miles down and 200 miles back for it to heat up and seize.

The axle was specially made in GA; and I cannot locate one closer to home.
