Laurie, what help do you need from us?

Thank you for asking [:)] I need basically the same help I had last year:

Jeff Smith - BBQing the grub and in charge of grilling supplies - hamburgers and hot dogs/buns for both from Price Club or somewhere comparable/charcoal/lighter fluid/grilling utensils such as tongs, etc...

Jim Anderson - bringing condiments/pickles/styrofoam plates/plastic cups, utensils and serveware (we will be having salads, etc, needing large spoons, etc)

George Kerns - picking up the bottled water/soda/whatever other NON-alcoholic beverages we need. Sorry, no beer/booze, Fairfax County park and out of our $500 budget anyway.

ME - ordering/picking up & bringing all the side items/platters: baked beans/potato salad/pasta salad/watermelon boat/desserts/etc...since I have a coupe and it all *just* fit last year [;)] [:))]

Sign up peeps, if you would please [:)]

Just were discussing the budget/number of people at the Council meeting this evening.

To date we have 42 people RSVP'd. It's still early and I keep getting RSVPs in every day...

Last year we had 70ish people. I'm guessing we will have around that, and possibly more, this year. Membership has grown quite a bit...

Figure on one burger and dog per person, (about 100 people) plus plenty extra. Not sure what to suggest, da prez picked up the meat last year (Jeff, weigh in on this, if you would please).

We ought to have people put a bag or two of ice in the coolers that they bring. That way I don't have 55 gallons of melted ice in the back of the Tahoe. I can fill up both of my coolers all the way with ice, and maybe a tub that I have at the house.

With all of the food I've got to carry, it's clear that I won't be bringing the Vert. I'll have to bring the truck instead.

I'll have room in my truck to carry the two coolers that I have. One will have the burgers & dogs and the other can be used for ice.

Laurie, I need to know what the budget is for this. I'm projecting (at this point) to make 100 burgers and 100 dogs.

What did Jeff buy last year? Were they pre-made and frozen or did he use fresh ground beef and make patties? I prefer using fresh ground beef for the burgers but the budget will determine which we choose to use. I'll not be adding anything extra to the burgers because people have such varied tastes. Don't want people to accidently eat something to which they might have a sensitivity.

I'll try to bring a combination of all beef dogs and brats as well, unless you think there's a problem with that.

I haven't cooked for more than 25 people since I fed buffalo wings to a 400 person biker rally in Texas 15 years ago. This should be a real adventure!! [:D] [:))]

Jeff,

Last year they did the pre-made. We went over the budget the other night which Laurie has all divied up. You should probably plan on about 150 burgers, and 100 dogs. Just a sugguestion. I will be picking up the drinks, and as much ice as I can get in the vehicle without it all melting before I get there.

Like I said at the Council meeting a couple nights ago, I wish I had more detailed info as to who spent what on what last year. All I know is that I spent $300 last year for my part (side items such as potato salad, pasta salad, watermelon boat, cookie tray, etc) and that everyone else spent $2-300 combined on their part (meat/grilling, beverages, paper/plastic). Apparently there were no receipts kept or anything really clear to go by.

Our total budget for food (including my responsibility of the side items/dessert, meat/grillling, beverages, paper/plastic) is $600. I'm gonna try to stay well below the $300 I spent last year. That leaves around $300-350 for everyone else's responsibility. I agree with the 150 burgers (pre-made for ease) and 100 dogs. Nice round numbers, keeps it simple.

I don't know how else to direct with the limited information I have.

Jeff, if you truly want to take your vert, then perhaps you can enlist some helpers to carry some of the load for you? Just a thought...

Not sure anyone lives in my area. Besides, it's just simplier to keep it all together in the truck than to inconvenience people.

Let's see, two lawn chairs, two coolers, my passenger and co-chef, Dave, 150 burgers, 100 dogs, 100 tablet bottle of Advil, .....

Naw, I'll just take the truck. [:)]

Prob in the 12:30/1:00 PM range. I have munchies/etc...to stave people's hunger for a while but that will only hold for so long.

Those of us 'working' (ie, bringing stuff) showed up last year in the 11:15-11:30 range to set up. Then the hungry club members started showing soon after that (about noon).

I have lots of pics from the picnic. Just have to sit down, and go through them. Then I will post them.
