Erica & I are going up to the Saturday night car show at the Burger King in Manassas by the airport tomorrow night. Would anyone like to go along. I here they have been getting some pretty wild rides up there as of late. [:)] [:D] For those that do not know where it is, take 66 west to the 234 by-pass exit (the 2nd 234 exit going west on 66), and follow it out until you get to 28 south. As soon as you get on 28 look over to the left and you will see Burger King. On a good night they will draw a couple hundred or so cars. [:)]

I was actually gonna make a post about this! [:))] I was at this last week, they do it every Saturday at this location. I agree that it is one helluva good time. Probably won't be able to make it this week, but I'll see how the day goes.

They have actually been going there for about 5-6 years now. They used to meet up at Chubby's until Pizza Slut drivers complained they didn't have anywhere to park. Shortly after Chubby's buisness tanked, and they closed their does.It was a real shame because they made great breakfast, and awsome malts! [:((]

I know it's been going on for quite a few years now. Took me until now to get my azz there, been so busy over the weekends! Was gonna post about it and hope that maybe we could get some club interest...

Oh well, I had a strawberry shake at BK, but I'm sure it can't compare to Chubby's malts. This got me thinking...what are Pizza Butt drivers doin' parking in the Chubby's lot anyway???!!! [:-/] [:))]

It's the one by the airport, off of Rt 28 and Business 234.

(Actually, it is off the the bypass 234, not business).

I was there, about 6:30ish and didn't see any NVCCers, either. [:(]

But I did see a lot of [B-)] cars. A few Z06s, some red C5s, a couple Chevy Belairs, a Ferrari 348, a Lotus Esprit 25th anniv edition, etc.... Not to mention the requisite annoying ricers. [[-(]

All in all a lot of fun. [:)]

I was up there in my suv - more cubes than a Vette and quicker in the 1/8th mile than most of them anyways [:p]

I was just passing through on my way to the Ford dealer [:D] and stopped in - didn't see anyone near their Vettes however, a few were there...

Most Vettes I saw today, were at Robert house w/ the Grand Sport for his Modification party - up and down on his lift - he had as many as 3 Vettes in his garage at various points of modding - all he charged was pizza & beer [B-)]

We were up there last night from about 5pm till 6:45. Saw Bill Linton up there. Handed out quite a few buisness cards last night. There was about 12-15 Vettes up there, and I was talking to several of the guys from the Cobra club too. They were asking about the American Iron for this year. I didn't have any answers on that one, but did tell them that they can come out to play at any of the auto-x's with us. One of the guys had a 427 Cobra with a supercharger on it! WOW! [B-)] That thing was totally cool. We usually get out of there before those peski "ricers" show up. Once they show up the show goes down hill real quick.

Laurie, just for future reference that lot can be rented for future car/concourse shows I think. It will hold a lot of cars, plus you have food, and restrooms right there. [;)]

I got there around 8:30. The place had a lot of empty spaces, but ended up yakking with old friends. Saw a couple of cool choppers, two Lotuses and a 440 six pack 4 speed Challenger.

Last week after the Fair Oaks Church Car Show I was there and handed out a ton of biz cards both at the show and at BK. Cool thing to have...get lots of positive reactions on them and people are thrilled to hear we have an online forum, an 'ask the expert' section, shop nights, activities, etc...Hopefully we will see some new faces. Not so many vettes when I was there last night...the ones that were there, their owners were not near their cars. [:(] I usually just stick a card in the window anyway [:))]

As far as renting that lot, good to know, but since we can hold Concours this year at Koons thanks to the new GM, you can't beat the price of free. [=D>] w00t!

Laurie,

I know you have good intentions for the club, but there are many folks who really don't want people to touch their car in any way, especially the window wipers. They are very tempermental about people touching their cars. May I suggest either handing them the card or placing it on their seat (if the door window is open). Just a suggestion....

Apparently my knowledge of BK's is more limited than I thought. There is not 2, but 5(!) BK's in Manassas. The one's I visited are not this one...

That's very driver specific. I don't mind a card on my window, but don't be dumping paper in my car like it's a trash can. (not that I feel that way personally, but I bet a lot of people would, I mean .. if you're leaving your window open and you're not near your car, you get what you deserve). I don't think a card under the wiper would ruffle many feathers.

Just my opinion [:D]

Like you said, its a personal thing. I used to go to the meets at Chick-Fil-A in Chantilly.

A lot of people would drop flyers of car shows and stuff into the open windows of the cars there. I heard quite a few comments from car owners both ways.

My 'golden rule'... "No eating, drinking, SMOKING around or touching of the cars. Drooling is permissable IF you carry your own 'drool pad'" I think handing out cards at events like this is better if done in person anyway. (just MPO)

EbVette

Agree with you Mike....I rather have it handed to me in person. Secondly, most people accept laying it on the seat, rather then picking up the wiper blade and sticking under the blade.

I wish people would not leave anything in my car... I have seen people go crazy over finger prints left on the door and on the window....

Manners should be, simple, don't touch, just look.

Some of the guys a little crazy, and look for things to go off on...they are there...just a matter of time.

Alright folks, this is getting a bit ridiculous with the false assumptions...and very few people are as anal retentive about their vettes as I am. Let me clarify...

When at shows I always approach people personally and hand them the cards. I talk to them about the club in great detail. As a vette owner and club member, with PR and attendance of events in mind, I always try to represent myself as an ambassador of the NVCC, if you will.

Now, if the owner is not present, sometimes (meaning, most of the time I do not bother to leave anything at all) I will leave the card on the seat or put it on the driver's side window where it can be seen and easily removed, never lifting up the windshield wiper to place it on the windshield, where it usually cannot be seen anyway. READ: I DO NOT TOUCH PEOPLE'S VETTES!

I, too, don't like flyers dropped into my car and they usually go into the trash on my way out, but a 2" X 3.5" business card is a different story.***off soapbox***
