OK Guys & Gals. I have a set of C5 factory stamped wagon wheels that I just bought off of Dave at the banquet that I am going to sell. As he stated when he sold them 3 of them are in mint condition, and one of them have a light scuff mark on it. Chrome center caps come with them along with Michelin sport cup tires. 2 of which are still good. I will sell them for what I paid for them $350. For factory wheels this is a real good deal. If anyone is interested let me know. [:)] I won't be needing them now that I got the Z06 [:D] .

I might be interested in these, George, if Bill doesn't want them. According to Dave in the other post, they should fit LilRed.
I have questions about the tires already mounted on them...good for autoX/HS events? As good, better or worse than the Kumhos? And two of the tires are definitely spent?
Experts, weigh in please. Trying to find the best fit/$$$ deal/etc...

Sorry Lilred, Bill has already claimed them. They actually have Michelin sport cups on them. Don't know how good they are, but they are expensive though.

No problem.
I know they had Michelins on them, you stated as such in your first post. I didn't care if the tires were expensive, I just wanted to know if they were good for autoX/HS events. The answer doesn't matter now, I guess.

Laurie you would be better off with a set off a C4. The rears from a C5 are 18", the rears on a C4 are 17" While they will fit, the 18s will give you a numerically lower final drive ratio.
Meaning that the 3.07s or 2.73s that you have will actually drop to 2.90 somethings or 2.60 something at the best and could even go lower. While that is good for gas mileage, it robs power coming off the line or out of a corner.

Mike-
Thank you for your informational response. [:)]
I know that they were an inch bigger than my 17s, was told they'd work anyway, but obviously if I'm laying out $ for a set of wheels for autoX/HS stuff, I'd want them to give me the highest possible performance on my car.
I'm awaiting Andrej's response in the other wheel/tire post about his buddy's sawblades. The other guy is also checking into a more exact shipping estimate for the chrome sawblades with the Victoracers on them and verifying their condition. Either way, looking at around $500, unless by some miracle I can find a better deal.

OK, the guy selling the chrome sawblades says that there are less than 60 autoX on the Victoracers. That sounds a bit high. Expert opinions??? How long can they go for?
The chrome's peeling a bit too. Though I'm only getting them for racing purposes, does $500 incl. shipping starting to sound high for the conditions?

These will fit. You will be classed in Group II if you cared.
Tires will be a bit more expensive because I believe they are 18" in the rear. For the money the rims are a bargain.

If that is 60 autoXs then they are shot. Got any pics of the tires and wheels.
As it is Ralph and I run about 10 autoXs at in a year. Multiply that by 4 runs to average in fun runs and you have 40 runs. Add in 18 runs for Spooktacular and you have 58 runs and then we do about 4-5 track events a year. We have both been going through a set of VictoRacers in a year.
As it is, I don't think you are getting any 'deal' here.

Mike S's assumption was that you would run factory sized tires on the 18" rims. The tires on the rims actually have smaller sidewalls, making them exactly the same height as the front tires. This gave me a lower ratio on my '97; would make no difference on LilRed.
Michelin Pilot Sport Cups are a track tire, R compound. They wore extremely well, considering I sometimes drove to events on them (as close as Summit Point and as far as Pocono.)
You may still consider 18" wheels, particularly in the Z06 width of 10.5 inches. Overall wheel height is what you should consider. Tire and wheel information can be staggering in volume. Just get something safe and sticky and drive that car! [:D]

Yep, it sure is. <sigh>
What I'm really looking for is this:
-A good wheel/tire combo that is going to give me the BEST POSSIBLE HANDLING on the track on MY particular car.
-Sticky tires. Enough said.
Would like to find something locally so that I can have a look at them. The wheels themselves don't need to be 'pimpin' perfect', they're for the track, but if I'm paying a decent price I expect decent condition. I don't give a rat's azz what group I'm in, so all suggestions welcomed. However, so far I've gotten so many differing opinions on this subject that deciding has become...interesting. [:(]

You could probably get through a season on those tires but you don't have any business driving them on the street to and from an event. There is no tread left on them and if you got caught in any rain at all you would be in trouble.
We all know about opinions, but mine is pass them by. By the time you pay for the shipping, you have too much money for wheels in that shape.

After I seen the photos I have to agree with Mike. We seen first hand what happens with slicks and rain at Rosecroft. Granted the guy shouldn't have been driving the way he was, but it was ugly!

It doesn't matter now, I've made a better deal on another set of wheels (Andrej's buddy J. Folkerts, the guy who bought Wasserott's blue C4), and the wheels/tires are in better shape. I'm getting them tomorrow! [:D]
As far as the guy driving with slicks in the rain and wrecking, well...I have my opinions on that, which I will keep to myself. [:)]
