Tom or AU N EGL here

I had the wonderful pleasure of meeting several great NVCC memebers a few weeks ago an the NASA event at VIR.

We had some great runs and great times. I mentioned that I was in the process of organizing a CORVETTE HPDE for the National Corvette Museum.

Well everyone the event is ON for Oct 29-30. Here is some offical informaiton and link to registration.

Join Us For a the First NCM Sponsored "High Performance Driving School"

For the first time in its 10-year history, the National Corvette Museum is sponsoring a High Performance Driving Event to be held October 29-30 at Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw SC. The school will teach Corvette owners how to properly and safely handle their performance sports cars with instruction on handling, braking, control, balance and weight transfer, and "road vision." The performance classes will use technical classroom instruction, track exercises and actual track lap time to give participants a real driving experience! The performance driving school is NOT a race school; all track time is spent under a rigid set of safety rules and all students will have an instructor riding with them during their run sessions. With students grouped by skill levels and an emphasis on safety, this school will provide a chance for Corvette owners to learn driving skills in a measured and controlled setting at a comfortable pace.

I hope that many members of the NVCC will attend this first NCM event. We will be planning 4 to 6 HPDEs for 2006 as well. I would be happy to answer any addition quesitons that may come up. and or if you are qualifed we are looking for a few more instucotors as well. Either case just drop me a note: Tom Bohlmann (mailto:thomasbohlmann@yahoo.com )

Thanks In Advance

If I didn't have a major cruise event to head up that day (Fall Skyline, Oct. 30th) I'd consider it. Good luck with the event!

We're hosting our first HPDE as well, pass it on to anyone you think might be interested:

Welcome to our forum, Tom. I missed you at VIR because you were never near your car when I went by. Your trailer looked cool, though.
Keep us up to date on this event and other track opportunities.

Great News, Tom. Thanks for setting this up. [=D>] As we said at the track, the Corvette community really needs to get involved in track events in the same way the Porche and BMW community has and this starts with High Performance Driving Schools. Keep us posted! By the way, a group of us are heading to the NASA Mid-Ohio event (Ohio-Indiana Region) April 1-3. If you have a chance it'd be great to see you there. --Ralph

Hey guys.

Yes I was busy that NASA weekend. I had one great student, Chevy Impila SS, a big boat but he could drive it very well and it was fun to ride in.

I would love to get up to Mid-Ohio, but that will have to be at another time. Road Atlanta and Watkins Glen are the two new tracks for me this year. Road Atlanta March 19-20 and Mid Aug with NASA-SE and Watikns Glen the end of July with a PCA-NE group.

Roc from the NCM said Mid-Ohio is his favorate track and he would like to do a NCM-HPDE there in the future. So we will see.

Registraiton for the Oct- CMP event is going very well. about 1/2 the slots filled with in 36 hours. and most of the ppl have done less then 3 HPDEs. SO that is good as we introduce HPDEs to more and more Corvette drivers.

Many Corvette ppl what to do CORVETTE events. But we all know that most HPDEs are very simular.

We will be doing four (4) -25-30 min sessions per day. Roc is working on getting a C6-ZO6 to the event and hopefully we will have once of the C6R race drivers come up and give a talk Saturday night. Neither one of these has been confermed yet, but we have "inside" sources [;)] so we shall see.

Looking forward to seeing you guys on the track again

Cheers
Tom
