James,
I don't know if you have read any of your e-mails, but Mike S. had one change I needed to make on page 1 (registration) of the flyer (adding car numbers). That change has since been made and needs to be replaced with the updated flyer on the website (I just e-mailed the new one to you guys). I dunno if this is something only Brad can do, because while I have been able to put the new one up, I have not been able to remove the old one myself.
IT IS ABSOLUTELY IMPERATIVE that I get the text/wording for page 2! As I stated in my e-mail, I will be having surgery Friday morning and will have limited access to my computer (read: cannot climb stairs). I want to get all the graphic work and editing squared away so that you all can upload it and go.
Thanks. [:)]

I have a version that I have been working on but James said he was doing one also. I don't want to have to conflicting items so if James has his ready to go lets use it.
On the other hand, it isn't absolutely imperative that we have this to start registration. We can send it out in the registration confirmation email.

*UPDATE*
I had to move the event to the distant past and made up a new one with the corrected flyer in order to make this work. Please be sure to re-register on the NEW event. Simply click on the link in James' post and click 'register for this event'.
Brad...please remove the old HPDE event so as not to confuse anyone. Thanks.

Current paid participants as of 3-4-5:
Novice - 3
Intermediate - 2
Advanced - 1
Instructors - 6 (cost free)
I'm been emailing with three more interested partied, all Novice or Intermediate status, but that has slowed down since we first opened it up. I've said to Jack to go ahead and mail his in.
I'll put out an email to the club mailing list informing them of progress. I'd feel better if we opened it up to every one sooner than later....

Rick, Mike S, Ralph and I are club instructors. Not everyone is into the instructor thing... Bob C is the only advanced participant so far, Don K may be another.
The email to the club list worked pretty good, I got 5 more prospectives saying they will send in their apps. Also recieved another paid participant today, don't know them, but I have to contact them because they didn't specifiy which group they wanted to be in.

I guess what I learned about this club in one year's time is that people seem to wait till the last minute to respond to a deadline. It's unfortunate for those planning stuff, but that's the way it is, and I was told to get used to it. Oh well...not worth worrying over I guess. [;)]

That was my point when I said that March 23rd was to long to leave registration closed.
People knew as soon as the original email went out whether they were going to attend or not. If you give people time to procrastinate, they will.

KOOL! I'm glad to hear the emails are coming in. I think it would be great if we could fill all of the slots internally.

{on soapbox}
I'm not frustrated really. There isn't any reason why we can't have all 45 slots filled by the end of April. Three weeks for the NVCC (14 Mar), three weeks for all NCCC makes it 4 April. Open it up to everyone else we should have the $ to pay for the track by 30 April.
It also gives us plenty of time to go over the registrations to decide whether they should be moved up or down in group and give our classroom instructor the make up of the students for her classroom instruction.
If people want to be anal amount the $ & pennies fine, then apply they need to be anal about the rest of it as well.

OG Racing (http://www.ogracing.com/) in Sterling.
Mine was $250 plus tax...I didn't have many choices as I needed an XX-Small but I consider myself lucky for getting one that inexpensive. They start there and go up in price.
Also got lucky there with a FIA - SFI 3.2 A/5 firesuit (not required but a good idea to have) for $500.

True!
A helmet normally has a 'wear out' date sticker under the lining somewhere. Normally the wear out is 5 years from manufacturer date.
Technically speaking all the 95 helmets should be out of date by the time of this event but some SA95 helmets were mancufactured as late as March-April of 2001.
I doubt if you could find a 95 on the shelf but get the newest you can find.
OG Racing has a good selection so you should be able to find the style you like in a size that fits.

I can probably get John Folkerts too. That will make 11. I can start calling and emailing other NCCC instructors and personally requesting their participation. I think we're in good shape here, but will try to get 15 instructors lined up by the end of next week.
Spoke to K&K this morning, they have no problem with our Monday event. I've emailed the the ER executive with this and hope this issue is resolved.

Just my opinion but I wouldn't think so. None of the other sanctioning bodies (SCCA, NASA, PDA, TracQuest) require that and since we aren't running any timing equipment, it shouldn't really be an issue.

I talked with Andrej today, and we decided on the following.
We are going to offically close the advanced drivers class, and split the novices into two classes along with 1 intermediate group. An official e-mail will be going out this evening on the news, and changes. We feel comfortable with the instructors we have, and that we may pick up in the near future to enable us to open the 2nd novice group. So as of now we have 10-11 open slots for the novice group, and 2-3 open slots for the intermediate group. So if there are any novice drivers that want to register now is the time to get your money in.

OK guys,
We had a very productive meeting yesterday! The course outline is pretty much set. We paired up drivers with their instructors, and several other items were taken care of. Once all the information is put together I will be sending out the packets to each of the drivers, and instructors. It also been brought to my attention that we now have 26 novice, and 13-14 intermediate registered. That only leaves 4 novice, and 1-2 intermediate slots left. The reason I bring that up is because several people have said they are going to register for the school. If we do not have your registration form, and payment you ARE NOT on the list. So get those payments in folks because it is almost full! [;)]

Ok time for a novice question. I know we are supposed to have everything out of the car, floor mats, basically everything that can come out. Here's my question since I am going to be driving down Sunday night to Winchester so I can more easily get there at 7:00 Monday morning.. is there somewhere to stash things, ie small suitcase or such, while taking your time on the course?
What about the long sleeves? Mandatory? I tend to be a hot body and I would prefer short sleeves. I know small issue but I would like to be comfortable if possible.
One last question, gas.. is there an optimal amount to have in the tank other than enough to get where you need to go?
Sorry for the newbie questions but we all start out without experience.
Looking forward to this a lot!

Thought of another one.
Sunglasses or should I say eye protection in general?
Someone with lots of experience should do a quick post of the TO DO's and the NOT TO DO's for the Novice group coming Monday.
Any takers? [:D]

Just a quick reply and then I'll start working on the TO DO... [:))]
Long Sleeves are mandatory... Sorry but the weather should cooperate.
Sunglasses for around the paddock at a minimum. Most helmets come with a visor but they are often removed. Your call on the eye protection but unless you have one of the larger opening full face helmets or an open face, wearing eye glasses or sun glasses can be a pain, literally.
You will want a full tank when you come on the track. (Especially if you have a C4. They normally have a problem with tank slop and starve from 1/3 down. There are a couple of gas stations on Rt 7 just before turning off onto 632 if you come on the backside (west) of Summit Point. One on the right about a 1/4 mile before 632 if you are coming from the east and one on the right at the intersection of 632 if you are coming from the west.
I always just stash my stuff from the car where I park in the pits. I've never had a problem with something missing when I get back.
There is also the classroom but there may not be a lot of room in there. You'll have to play that one by ear. We can see about that when we get there.

Since I have the flyer/admin info/tech sheet all on Photoshop and can print at the touch of a button...do you need me to bring copies of the tech sheet (or any of the other pages)? I can print them out before leaving if that would help take some of the burden off...please advise.

There is always someone that forgets something. It probably would be a good idea if you printed off a number of tech sheets. (How many students do we have?)

Consider it taken care of. 48 students total? Bring 50???
